Streamline PPM management with SFG20

Opuz establishes itself as a Founding Partner of SFG20 through a seamless integration with Facilities-iQ

Opuz, an innovative provider of Computer-aided Facilities Management (CaFM) software, proudly announces the successful integration of SFG20's Facilities-iQ system. This achievement positions Opuz  founding partners to fully integrate with the next generation of SFG20's API, setting a new benchmark in facilities management.

Opuz establishes itself as a Founding Partner of SFG20 through a seamless integration with Facilities-iQ

Earlier this year, SFG20 unveiled Facilities-iQ and an enhanced API for effective integration with external CaFM systems. This integration allows end clients to integrate SFG20 Schedules in the form of Pre-Planned Maintenance (PPM) programs directly into their CaFM system. The integrated PPM records in the CaFM system can be linked to existing building and asset records, enabling users to efficiently manage all maintenance activities, from planning and scheduling to work completion and record-keeping. Beyond maintenance, CaFM systems like Opuz also serve as comprehensive asset management solutions, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements.

The story of Opuz is one of innovation driven by necessity. Born out of SMS Environmental's frustration with the limitations of existing CaFM systems, Opuz was developed to address the real-world challenges faced by the team. SMS Environmental needed a system that could do it all—manage assets, ensure compliance, streamline maintenance, and provide reliable, user-friendly solutions for every aspect of facilities management. And when no system could be found to do it all, they decided to create their own.

“At SMS Environmental, we knew exactly what we needed in a CaFM system, but we couldn’t find a solution that met all of our requirements,” said Gavin Harris, Founder of Opuz. “That’s when we decided to build Opuz—a system designed by people who understand the day-to-day demands of facilities management. Our integration with SFG20’s Facilities-iQ is a testament to our commitment to providing a solution that truly does everything.”

And what do they mean by ‘Truly does everything’?

For those using SFG20, integrating with Opuz will significantly enhance operational efficiency and compliance management. Here's how:

  • Seamless integration of SFG20 Schedules: Users can now integrate SFG20’s comprehensive maintenance schedules directly into Opuz. This eliminates the need for manual data entry and reduces the risk of errors, ensuring that all planned maintenance tasks are accurately reflected in the system. Furthermore, when SFG20 schedules are updated, users could easily pull the latest available information into Opuz
  • Simplified Compliance Management: The integration provides a transparent solution for statutory compliance requirements. Building owners and facilities managers are instantly informed of their legal obligations, allowing them to generate work orders that are fully aligned with the latest regulations.
  • Streamlined Task Assignment: Opuz’s intelligent system assigns maintenance tasks to engineers based on their specific skill sets and availability. This ensures that the right person is always assigned to the right job, improving the quality and efficiency of maintenance work.
  • Detailed Instructions for Engineers: The Opuz platform provides engineers with clear, step-by-step instructions for each SFG20 task. This guidance ensures that every maintenance process is completed to the highest standard, reducing the likelihood of missed steps or errors.
  • Comprehensive Record-Keeping: Opuz automatically documents all maintenance activities, providing a comprehensive audit trail that supports compliance and operational transparency. This record-keeping capability is invaluable for building owners and managers who must demonstrate compliance during inspections or audits.

This integration addresses compliance comprehensively, offering building owners a seamless way to meet their regulatory obligations.  The system effortlessly generates relevant work orders and assigns them to engineers with the necessary skills, who receive detailed instructions to ensure tasks are completed to the highest standards.  Through SFG20, users can receive notifications when the various standards are updated and then choose when to implement those updates. With this brand-new integration, SFG20 content seamlessly flows into Opuz, enabling facilities managers to align their maintenance plans with the most up-to-date information.

Opuz’s successful integration with Facilities-iQ gives it a competitive edge in the CaFM market, distinguishing it as one of the leading solutions in the industry. The platform, which started as a solution to SMS Environmental’s pain points, has become a powerful tool available to the broader market. The system’s development was driven by the very people who use it, ensuring that it meets the real needs of facilities management professionals.

Smooth transition: An Infrastructure Upgrade for Opuz

21 October 2024

As part of the Opuz SaaS platform upgrade, we moved from a legacy system with standalone client instances storing files in web folders to a modern multi-tenancy architecture. To maintain seamless file management across both systems, we introduced dedicated blob storage for each client and developed APIs to fetch and store files.
